Stress: medical evidence and dismissals

Every employer’s nightmare is for an employee to go off sick with stress and refuse to co-operate with requests for medical records, occupational health assessments, etc, and then to raise a grievance that he or she has been badly treated or bullied.

When and whether to dismiss that employee is always a dilemma. When and how to request the employee to co-operate with sending medical evidence, going for an occupational health assessment and co-operating in a grievance procedure if he or she has raised a grievance, can be very tricky.
