Under the Working Time Regulations 1998, a worker’s current minimum statutory holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks (28 days) for fulltime staff. Employers can give a more generous entitlement if they wish. Part-timers have an entitlement on a pro rata basis with full-time colleagues.
The holiday leave year starts on the day that the employment began, unless otherwise agreed (eg the employer may use a calendar year). The employees’ rate of holiday pay should be the same as when they are working.
